CONTENT MODERATION POLICY – ALERTLY

At Alertly, we value the safety of our users and the integrity of community-submitted content. This policy outlines how we monitor, review, and manage user-generated content (“UGC”) in the app.
1. TYPES OF ALLOWED CONTENT
Alertly encourages users to submit relevant and responsible reports related to:
- Crimes or suspicious activities.
- Traffic accidents or hazards.
- Fires, weather events, or other emergencies.
- Community safety concerns.
Content must be factual, respectful, and free of sensitive personal information unless properly anonymized.
2. PROHIBITED CONTENT
You may not upload content that includes:
- Personally identifiable information (e.g., faces, license plates, home addresses) without consent or proper anonymization.
- Violence, blood, or graphic material without context or warning.
- Hate speech, harassment, threats, or discrimination.
- False, misleading, or malicious incident reports.
- Sexual content or nudity.
- Defamation, impersonation, or invasion of privacy.
- Any content that violates local, provincial, or federal laws.
- We will report to law enforcement any content that poses a credible threat to public safety or violates criminal law.
3. MODERATION PROCESS
We use a multi-layered moderation system, including:
- Automated filters to detect keywords and known violations.
- User reporting tools to flag inappropriate content.
- Manual review by human moderators to assess flagged reports.
Moderation decisions are final. We may:
- Remove or edit reports.
- Anonymize sensitive data (e.g., blur faces or license plates).
- Suspend or permanently ban repeat offenders.
4. USER RESPONSIBILITIES
By submitting content to Alertly, users agree to:
- Provide truthful and accurate information.
- Avoid sharing others’ personal data without their consent.
- Respect the dignity and safety of other people and communities.
- Users are solely responsible for the content they upload and its consequences.
5. REPORTING INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT
If you see content that violates this policy, you can report it using the in-app “Report” feature. We aim to review reports within 24–48 hours.
In urgent cases, you may contact us directly at: support@alertly.ca.
Users can also block specific accounts or content categories; appeals will be reviewed within 48 hours.
6. APPEALS
If you believe your content was removed by mistake, you may contact us to request a review. We may restore the content if it does not violate our policies.
7. ENFORCEMENT
We may take the following actions in case of violations:
- Content removal.
- Temporary or permanent suspension of user accounts.
- Reporting to law enforcement if the content poses a legal or safety threat.
8. UPDATES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy to reflect legal or operational changes. Continued use of the App implies agreement with the latest version.
